01 / Overview
About this movement
End range lumbar rockers use a supported kneeling position to move the hips backward toward the heels. The range can be adjusted easily by changing how far you rock.
02 / Technique
How to perform End Range Lumbar Rockers
- Start on your hands and knees on a mat.
- Reach your hands forward slightly, then slowly rock your hips backward.
- Stop at a comfortable end range without forcing the low back into pain.
- Rock forward to the starting position and repeat with steady breathing.
03 / Coaching cues
Make every rep count
- Let the hips travel backward with control.
- Keep neck and shoulders relaxed.
- Reduce depth if the movement produces symptoms down the leg.

How to use it
Try 8–12 easy back-and-forth rocks, pausing briefly where comfortable.
Movement note: Back-flexion-based mobility can be aggravating for some symptom patterns; avoid pushing through radiating pain.

Common questions
Is this the same as child’s pose?
It uses a similar position, but the emphasis is on repeated, controlled rocking rather than a prolonged static hold.
Can I use a cushion under my knees?
Yes. A folded mat or pad can improve comfort.
