About this movement

This prone lumbar extension drill uses your arms to support a controlled press-up while the pelvis stays close to the mat. It is similar to a press-up commonly used in extension-based movement testing.

How to perform End Range Lumbar Extension

  1. Lie face down with hands near shoulder level.
  2. Press through your hands to raise your chest while keeping the hips and pelvis relaxed near the mat.
  3. Move slowly toward a comfortable extension range without forcing a sharp pinch.
  4. Lower your torso back down and repeat with control.

Movement note: A press-up is not a universal sciatica exercise. Stop if leg symptoms worsen or travel farther down the leg.
