01 / Overview
About this movement
This seated lumbar flexion exercise uses a stable chair to explore a comfortable forward-bending range. The seated position makes it easy to modulate how far you move.
02 / Technique
How to perform End Range Lumbar Flexion
- Sit on a sturdy chair with feet planted and knees comfortably apart.
- Slowly lean the trunk forward, allowing the spine to flex within a comfortable range.
- Keep the movement smooth and avoid bouncing into the bottom position.
- Return upright with control and repeat.
03 / Coaching cues
Make every rep count
- Let the movement come from a controlled forward bend, not a sudden drop.
- Keep both feet grounded for balance.
- Stop if radiating leg symptoms or sharp pain increases.

Common questions
Is this the same as a seated hamstring stretch?
No. The focus here is controlled spinal flexion rather than isolating the hamstrings.
Do I need to touch the floor?
No. Bend only as far as feels comfortable and controlled.
