01 / Overview

About this movement

This seated movement pairs a controlled chin retraction with a gentle look-up phase. The goal is smooth neck motion rather than forcing a large end range.

How to perform End Range Cervical Chin Retraction to Extension

  1. Sit tall in a stable chair with shoulders relaxed and eyes forward.
  2. Draw your chin straight backward without dropping the head downward.

Common questions

Is this the same as a chin tuck?

It begins with a chin retraction, then adds cervical extension as a separate phase.

Should I go to the very end of my neck range?

Only if that range is comfortable and appropriate for you; do not force it.
