Phase 3 Overview

Phase 3 of 4

Bridge slower strength work into repeated elastic contacts and a controlled return to running.

Phase 3Typical: 2–6+ weeksCriteria-Based

Primary Goals

What this phase is trying to accomplish

Elastic Loading

Introduce quick, low-level stretch-shortening-cycle work.

Impact Tolerance

Progress from simple two-leg contacts toward selected single-leg impact.

Return to Running

Reintroduce running without increasing every training variable at once.

Keep Strength

Maintain heavy calf and plantar fascia strength as impact and running rise.

Progression Rule

The calendar does not decide when you advance

Use the suggested timeframe only to set expectations. Advance when your current activity and exercise load are being tolerated well enough to begin the demands of the next phase without a meaningful next-morning symptom increase.
